:: UPTU Promotion / passing rules (Year back rule) for B Tech ::
This is more often asked by a tech students what are the rules for promotion to next academic year. What is the criteria to avoid year back and what are the rules for carryover exams. Well, here in this article, we shall try to cover all the questions and make sure that all the doubts can be cleared.
UPTU currently follows Credit system to allot Pass, or Fail status to any student. Read the below points to know about this credit system and what are the outcomes from the same credit system.

- If a student attains minimum passing marks, the student is alloted full credits in that particular subject.
- If a student fails to get minimum passing marks in any subject, the student is provided with Zero (0) Credits.
- On the basis of these credits scored by a student, result status may vary. It can be pass, PCP, PCP-A, or Fail. Below is the full explanation on what these different outcomes mean.
Pass : If a student gets full credits in all the subjects including theory and practical, then the student is declared as Pass.
PCP : Pass with carry papers. This status is alloted and student is allowed to be promoted to next year. This status is provided when the student has scored minimum of 24 or more credits in theory subjects and minimum of 8 credits in practical subjects. GP Credits will not be counted in the above calculation.
PCP- A : This status is provided to students and is promoted to next academic year. This is provisional. Means the student in this case have to score 26 or more credits in theory subjects and 8 or more credits in practical subjects by appearing in carryover examinations. In case a student will fail to fulfl this condition, the PCP-A status shall be changed to Fail.
Fail : If this status is alloted in your result, it means that you have to re appear for the examinations in same academic year and you will not be promoted to next year. This is also known as year back .
UPTU B.Tech Year back rule condition.
1. students got minimum passing marks including practical and external exam both 40% if he/she got 40% marks then promote next academic year.
2. the minimum passing marks in theory subject he/she obtained in theory examination 30 marks out of 100/24 marks out of 80 and 15 marks out of 50 then he/she promote to next academic year.
3. the minimum passing marks in seminar education tour,Viva-Voce and other industrial training minimum marks shall be 50%(only for final year students ).
4. the candidate must be pass include both semester 12 subject out of 8 then he/she promote next academic year.
if candidate full fill all those condition then promote next academic year.
UPTU FIRST YEAR STUDENTS NEW YEAR BACK RULE 2014
if you are first year students and don’t know about year back rule then www.uptunews.tk provide you all information related UPTU year back rule according to new rule if he/she got 1000 marks but got back 4+1 total five back then he/she promote with the help of bonce credit in theory examination status will generated PCP(pass with carry over exam)
if he/she got below thousand marks and not to achieve bonce theory credit and marks below 1000 but got back only 4 out of 12 then he/she also promote next academic year with the help of PCP-A (pass with carry over exam aggregate).
if any students not fulfill for this condition then got year back.

sir i am in first year, now total i have 6 back now and my total is 1033 .

so sir yet carryover results is not uploaded . i am confident that i will pass in both the subjects.
so sir will my current status will change to pass or naot???
if you will be passed in all subjects, your status will definitely change to "pass"

if we have fail status in first year than we have to give minimum how many subjects special carryover paper to promote to second year. if have 7 backs .

You have to clear minimum 3 out of 7 subjects to promote to second year.... Rest 3 subjects can be given next time

Deletesir if fail status student give special carryover exam to prevent their yearback then as the result came in last week of september and we cannot attend the class can we will be semester detained in next sem due to short attendance.

ReplyDeleteso if I score 20 marks in that subject will I get 10 marks as grace.(grace rule:u have to be clear in 11 out 12 without any carry over, but I had 2 carryover in which one is cleared and one is left, that I have mentioned above)
