:: UP Technical University lodges FIR in forgery case ::

UP Technical University (UPTU) registrar U S Tomer finally lodged an FIR late Tuesday in connection with a forgery case that came into light recently. Directives from the university's vice-chancellor for police complaint in this case came on April 4. Circle officer Jankipuram A N Singh confirmed the case was registered by university registrar under sections 420, 467, 468, 471 pertaining to forgery, breach of security and cheating.

Signatures of university's VC, finance officer and the assistant officer were forged to give a contract of Rs 23 crore to a Maharashtra-based construction company. The matter came to light on April 4 when company officials visited UPTU to inquire about the work. A proxy email of the V-C was created for giving approval to the company. Internal investigations revealed that the matter was related to fraud. Detailed investigations are underway. UPTU vice-chancellor R K Khandal has also sought help from vigilance department.
