:: UPTU anomaly- U.S.Tomer in for grilling again ::
The three-member committee constituted to probe irregularities in affiliation of 44 colleges of UP Technical University is to interrogate registrar U S Tomer once again on Monday. Tomer is accused of granting affiliation to these 44 colleges in 2013-14 by violating the SC orders. The committee is also probing Tomer's role in creating a fake website to grant affiliation to colleges for the academic session 2014-15.
On Saturday, the committee headed by former Justice Alok Kumar Singh carried investigations where it was found that Tomer's academic or service records are missing from the university. His records are, in fact, not available at Harcourt Butler Technological Institute (HBTI), Kanpur too, where Tomer was posted before he joined UPTU in the year 2002. Objections were also raised by the committee on Tomer's absenteeism from faculty of architecture (FOA), where he has been directed to report till the inquiry against him is completed.
On May 24, UPTU vice-chancellor R K Khandal had restrained Tomer from discharging his duties till the inquiry against him completes. Technical education minister Shivkant Ojha has asked the inquiry committee to probe the "base'' and legality of the appointment of the registrar.
