Professional courses such as MBA and MCA in colleges under Uttar Pradesh Technical University are drawing fewer students this academic session. While, the University has to offer over 30,000 seats in different colleges across the state for such programmes, only 15,000 students had appeared for the entrance exam.
About 30 colleges in Knowledge Park of Greater Noida offer 3000 seats for MBA courses. However, only 450 students have been counseled for admission in this academic year. As many as 300 students have been counseled against 900 seats for MCA programmes in these colleges.
Students complain that they do not want to pursue professional courses in colleges where the quality of education is not up to mark. "College preferences and quality of education affects job placement hence students do not want to study in these colleges," said Abhishek Kumar, a student.
